Updating the Blog

After the success of the Mexico Trip Blog Updates by my incredible wife Allison, we are going to look to utilize the blog a little better.  (I know I have said this a million times, but I mean it this time!)

I am looking forward to keeping you updated on our CFC High School Ministry!

Last Mexico Update!

This is the last update before everyone is home! YAY!

Their day today went well. Just a lot of finishing things off and cleaning up. The prayer time went well. The students were still finishing up when I was talking to Adam.

Tomorrow the team will be coming back in two shifts just like they left. I don’t know who was on what flight but they are in the same group as they left. The group that left Jacksonville first will be the group getting back around 10 pm tomorrow night. The group that left second from Jacksonville will be getting back to Jacksonville around 2 in the afternoon. I don’t have the exact itinerary, but I think you parents do. If one of you could comment on the the exact times they will be getting back I would appreciate it so other people can know in case they are wanting to go to the airport. Thanks so much!

Pray for safety in travel tomorrow as the group is separated. Pray that customs goes smoothly and quickly. That is a lot of people to get through those lines on time. Pray that everyone stays healthy all the way back to Jacksonville!

Mexico 6-27

Apparently the group got home from San Miguel later last night and had dinner and a debrief time- so no phone call. :) I got one tonight though.

Church today went well. After church about 30 kids played kick ball with our group, then they had another movie night.

Tomorrow is a wrap-up day for the group. Finish the few construction projects that are left, clean up the camp, and have a prayer time for the camp, village, and town. Pray that this time would be very impactful for our group, and a blessing on the people being prayed for.

Continue to pray for good health for the last few days. The group is tired and we don’t want any sickness to start because they are worn out! We will see them soon! Tomorrow is the last full day without them. I’m very excited. I think that these 10 days have felt like 20. I’m excited to have Adam back!

Mexico 6-26

I talked to Adam earlier today while they were in town, which from facebook, it looks like a lot of you got to have some sort of communication with your kids. :)

The team had gone shopping and was watching the World Cup at the pizza place. I am not sure what their plans were for tonight. I am going to go to sleep soon, super early (yay), so I will let you know tomorrow morning if I hear anymore about their day later.

When I had talked to Adam yesterday, he said the plan for Sunday was to have church at the camp with their group. He said they thought they were going to invite some people from the church that they were supposed to go to last week to come to the camp to be with them. In the afternoon they were going to play soccer with the kids from the village. They are also going to have another movie night on Sunday night.

I hope the team had a good, fun, relaxing day. Their time there is coming to a close. Pray that they will continue to work hard to make Jesus’ name great in Guanajuato for the last few days they are there. Continue to pray for everyone to stay healthy. I know I’m excited to be able to see Adam soon, I’m sure you guys are just as excited to see your kids! Thanks so much for letting them go for 10 days to be Jesus to those who don’t have anyone else to be Jesus to them. You will be rewarded for that someday. I hope you had a relaxing Saturday. Enjoy your Sunday worshiping the Lord. Be thankful that we know the truth, and are free to gather together and worship our Savior whenever we want! Such a blessing we too easily get used to.

Looks like more kids are in this picture- maybe all of you will be able to find yours! :)

World Cup

I forgot to mention that the group will be watching the USA game at the pizza place in San Miguel. :) Hopefully we win!!

Mexico 6-25

Sounds like a full day!

The construction projects are almost done. The only thing left to finish is the trenches. Adam says they are all really tired.

I think some of that has to do with the fact that their debrief session last night was 3 hours long! :) Adam said it was very good. They had a time of encouragement for each person in the group. I’m sure you will want to ask your kids about that night.

The groups last kids club was today. Around 115 people came. Adam said around 15 of them were adults! They have run out of crafts completely. :) They had another movie night tonight and around 50 people came. They will have another one on Sunday night. I am a little worried though. Adam said tonight on the phone. “I need to tell you something. I’ve met someone. Her name is Lupe. I think she’s three. We’ve been talking all week and tonight during the movie she came and sat on my lap and wrapped her arms around my neck and watched the whole movie that way.” I told him to tell her that she better watch it. :)

Tomorrow the group will be going into San Miguel for their day off. They will be shopping in the market and going out to eat at a pizza place. I asked Adam for more pictures- I thought you guys would like to see more! Hopefully we will get some from their trip tomorrow.

One last thing-  Michael asked that I tell everyone that reads the blog that he hasn’t showered yet! :)

Mexico 6-24

I just had a quick chat with Adam. Here is a quick update before I head off to bed. I’m really tired today!

Construction is going really well. A lot of their projects are getting closer to being completed. The girls have almost finished the whole wall. The trenches for the bathrooms are also almost done. They laid a bunch of cement today, I think for a sidewalk too. Sounds like they are working really hard.

Kids Club went well today. Adam says the kids that come are great. They are still planning on having another movie night tomorrow night.

The debrief times are going well each night. Tonight Adam is going to send the kids off by themselves for a while and he asked for prayer for that time. Once again- eternal change, not just emotional, missions trip change. Pray like crazy tonight that these kids hearts would be forever impacted with a passion for the furthering of God’s kingdom. They have been talking a lot about Isaiah being willing to go for the Lord when He asked “whom shall I send?”

Only 5 more days left. Let’s pray that these 5 days change the village our team is reaching out to in a way that will be talked about for a long time. Pray that these kids will be open to be used however God wants them to.

Mexico 6-23

Adam called me from Guanajuato tonight. He told me that today has been good.

Construction is going well he said. One thing I learned while talking to him is that at all times during construction one of the team members is praying in the “prayer chair.” They take 15 minute turns. I thought that was really neat.

The kids club went well today. They had a lot of kids again. He didn’t tell me any numbers this time. He said they have been playing a lot of soccer. I guess that makes sense with the World Cup and all. :) Good job USA today!! I grew up overseas and LOVE soccer so I am happy when it gets lots of TV time every few years.

Tonight they were at the market and had eaten out at a restaurant in the city. Adam said the food was very good. They had a room just for the team at the restaurant. He said the mariachi band played some songs for them and they were all clapping, and some singing along! Sounds like fun.

It sounds like the team is doing very well. Adam said that the debrief times are going great. Continue to pray for eternal lessons to be learned, not just temporary ones. Everyone is still in good health- pray that will still be true after eating out tonight! Haha.

Adam said he will try to call again tomorrow night- so until then…

Can you find your child? :) Sarah is looking lovely in the middle!

Mexico 6-22

I finally got a call this afternoon from Adam. Apparently they have been busy. Haha.

The construction is going well at the camp. The girls have been painting the front wall. The boys were digging trenches, using pick axes, and mixing cement. Adam said that he mixed cement all day yesterday with Jacob and Matt. He told me his hands were so sore that night that he could barely open his Slim Jim. :)

The news is that everyone is feeling 100%. Wendy’s back has been feeling perfect since they touched down in Mexico. They are praising the Lord for that! In Adam’s words, “no diarrhea or anything!” That gave me a good giggle. Especially if any of you know how our last trip to Mexico went! The food is VERY GOOD Adam says. He told me that I would like to be on this trip because they have breakfast for lunch- which is my favorite! Today it was pancakes. It’s nice to know that the kids are getting good food to keep them energized for all the hard work they are doing!

Kids Club yesterday went very well. They had 80 kids show up, which is the most the camp has EVER had! Praise the Lord. Be praying that these 80 kids, and however many more show up before the end of their time there, see Jesus in each of our team members.

The movie event last night went great. They had 35 kids show up, and they showed a little less than half of the movie. Adam said they will be having another movie night on Friday night to show more of the movie, and maybe another one on Sunday depending on far they get through the movie on Friday. Pray that the word gets out from the 35 kids that came about how fun it was, and that more people would show up for the other showings .

Tonight the team is going into Guanajuato to have dinner and go to the local market. Maybe some of you will be receiving little gifts from their trip tonight?! :) Hopefully the kids will have fun and see more of the culture and develop an even bigger heart for these people.

Adam said that there has been no drama, and the team is getting a long SO well. Praise God for their unity. They will always accomplish more for His name by being united. Continue the prayers. God is doing big things with this team, and our prayers are lifting them up!

Adam is supposed to call again tonight to give me an update on today. So we may have another post before the end of the night…
